For the last 4 years, LWRCI has been developing its new submachine guns. They currently produce two versions for the commercial market as a carbine caliber pistol. This little beast packs 45 rounds with a 25 round H&K UMP magazine. Most of the new items at this year's NRA are additions or new features, but nothing new, but the LWRCI SMG-45 is different.
45 Caliber Rifle
The SMG-45 is a delayed release system with a LWRC rail system. It has an 8.5" threaded barrel that can be attached to a suppressor to take advantage of the subsonic capabilities of the 45 acp. The SMG-45 has a different side loader, which is non-reciprocating, but adjustable. for right or left handed users. The bolt release is ambidextrous with a pad on both sides of the gun, perfect for off-handed shooting. Probably one of my favorite things about the SMG , is a paddle-style magazine release for a shotgun.It's similar to the MP5 and it's very easy to change magazines.

Another cool feature they have included is a side tactical SB mount that allows the user to fold the gun into a very small package. Currently, the SMG-45 is only available in .45 auto, but plans are in the works for .40 cal and .9mm. In the future, conversion kits will be available to make it easy to change to a different caliber if you so desire. The full motor capacity of the SMG-45 spins 650-700 rounds per minute, but the recoil is manageable. The MSRP on the SMG-45 is $2,999, so it's not the cheapest option, but you're getting quite a package for the price.
Overall, I think the LWRC SMG-45 is a great new entry into the PCC world. it has some great features and decided to go a different route by carrying HK UMP magazines and it's great. well balanced and not too heavy for me. Centerfire rifles offer more kinetic energy than rimfires, but are also quieter, not requiring a suppressor. .45 ACP and .38 Special are my favorite cartridges for this because the normal pressure (not +P) is quiet when fired and their performance is comparable to .22 rifled. They have the power to kill deer game in a short distance and the ability to defend itself, while reducing the threat compared to the military-caliber EBR (evil black rifle) "threaten the citizens."
.38 Special and .45 ACP are better for such tasks because they are loaded with fast burning powders with a barrel length of only 5-6 inches. The standard 158 gr. lead bullet .38 Special loads are increased to about 150 f.p.s. when comparing a 4-inch gun with a 20-inch lever action. In the .45 ACP, the increased ratio that results from firing from a long-barreled cartridge, combined with the increased amount of compression in the hole, greatly increases the pull, e.g. negating the effects of adiabatic expansion, so there is little or no acceleration. while shooting. which means ammunition from the M1911 pistol. Muzzle exit pressure is very low, so the display is comparable to a typical shot of a .22 LR fired from a game cartridge if the cartridge is longer than 20 inches. Some standard .45 ACP ammo has a subsonic velocity when fired from a rifle. I'm not trying to find out how fast I can reload the guns. because collecting the special "gun ammo" that cannot be used in the gun will defeat the purpose. The combination of large bullet weight, reasonable accuracy and low noise makes it comfortable and effective.

About 25 years ago Wayne Schwartz rebuilt a Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum to .45 ACP for me and it worked great. I let Wayne talk me out of the rifle when I left the Ruger and I've regretted it ever since, so I did something else. This time I took the .45 Colt Cowboy II and sent it to John Taylor, who added a .45 Colt barrel and magazine tube, resealed the barrel, installed a new extractor, and did it. again to the pregnant. It holds twelve rounds in the magazine tube as finished with a 22-1/2" barrel), is 39" overall and weighs 6 lbs.12 oz.
I use this rifle with Saeco #954 230gr. lead slugs FN Cowboy and 5 gr. of the Bullseye, offering about 1,000 f.p.s. rifle vs. the 830 M1911 rifle and about 800 f.p.s. with my S&W Model 625 pistol. Given the limited powder and velocity powders used in the .45 ACP, you get a low increase in velocity for a long time at the pressures of the chamber allowed (up to 20,000 rounds).
The .45 ACP Marlin isn't quite as accurate as my best loads in the .357 lever action, but it fits my original purpose as a fun gun and plinker. Shooting irons, I have 1-1/2" groups at 25 yards that sit on balance at 100 yards. The front sight covers a 6" gong at 100 yards. I let the rifle shoot about 3 inches above the front sight at 50 yards, and below the sight when I clear the target at 100. but it sounds easier to sound with long sight lines and sight. With the rings in place, a 12-inch gong at 200 yards is almost daily.
